If you have one afternoon in Lisbon and want to understand the shape of the city, this is the tour. We cover the ground a walking tour would need two days for, and we do it through streets a bus can’t fit down.
We begin in Alfama, the oldest district, where the street plan survived the 1755 earthquake and still runs the way the Moors laid it out. From there into Mouraria — murals, fado houses, and the most genuinely mixed neighbourhood in the city — then up to Graça for the view.
Down in Baixa the mood changes completely: wide neoclassical avenues, Commerce Square opening onto the river, the Rua Augusta Arch and the iron filigree of the Santa Justa Lift. We continue through Chiado past the world’s oldest bookshop, drop down the Bica funicular hill, and finish along the grand plane trees of Avenida da Liberdade.
Choose the four-hour version and we carry on west to Belém — the monastery, the tower, the Discoveries Monument and a kitchen visit at Pastéis de Belém.
